The general consensus when this gig was announced was – fuck yeah! The Melvins, in Norwich? Count all of us in. This very much felt like the place to be this midweek night, and sure enough a large crowd had gathered to worship at the altar of these alternative American rock legends.
Back in May, I was very excited and proud to join the Epic Studios team who were part of the production and recording of a new 10 part ITV series of British Wrestling.
You may have seen the US equivalent, WWE, well this is going to be just as spectacular. You really need to watch this!!
My role during production was to take Behind the Scenes, green screen promo and live action recording photos. Needless to say, I finished the week with with several thousand pics which then all needed to be selected then edited... Phew, that was a major task!!!
The Norwich Gaming Festival came to a close at Epic Studios with a jam packed room full of eager teams competing in a pub quiz challenge and a selection of gaming-related prizes up for grabs. Teams of varying sizes created a fun yet competitive atmosphere, egged on by friendly hosts armed with plenty of gaming facts to follow up each round's questions.
At Epic Studios we had another large crowd in to support Mammal Not Fish's EP release, Room 6. With a four band line up of locally sourced music, the scene in Norwich is excitingly vibrant
This show was another reminder on how good the musical talent coming out of Norfolk/Suffolk is at the moment. On this same night in Norwich, two other venues were also stuffed with eager music lovers, there to see more top quality local talent.
Coming from Norwich, Lightscape have been hard at work of late promoting their latest E.P Circles, which has garnered positive reviews. With it's harmonious guitar riffs, clean singing, and just a dash of synthesizers, they have created a sound which is not only entirely melodic, but catchy too!
In the live setting, they have a clear, warm sound although I would have preferred a little more edge to the guitars and Will Overton on vocals has a powerful, engaging voice too.
With an abundance of raw musical talent, Faulkner was also an engaging performer, easily leading the packed out Studio like the Pied Piper.
Even though unfamiliar with Newton Faulkner's music, I was able to appreciate his skills of tapping both the strings and body of his guitar which combined with the vocal accompaniment of the concert goers, resulted in an vibrant, inclusive experience.
3rd Feb 2018
On the second stop of their UK tour the sunshine drenched sounds of Dreadzone brought some warmth to Norwich this freezing cold Saturday evening (3rd February). They delivered an excellent, energetic and finely honed set of dub, reggae, ska, dancehall, dance and breakbeat to a packed room.

From the outskirts of the city, 5 piece band Gentlemen have become one of Norwich's favourite guitar bands with their exciting blend of blues, rock and psych rock. Following the release of their 2 sided EP 'Dark', the band played their 3rd headline show, and their first headline show at the awesome Epic Studios.
